There will be a program called TOMODACHI Metlife Women Leadership Program organized by the US embassy Tokyo and the  TOMODACHI initiative.  This is a 10 month mentoring program to develop next generation leaders by providing opportunities for the Japanese students to learn leadership skills and to interact with mid-level professionals for networking.

The initiative began in 2013 in Tokyo and Kansai, and this year, it will be held at four locations-Tokyo,Osaka, Fukuoka and Naha.  Applicants need to be Japanese citizen or those with permanent residence and to be fluent in speaking English.

Some of you may feel rather intimidated as it requires English fluency, but “fluency” can be defined with some range.  (I think most Japanese are so modest in assessing their own level of competence.)  Unless you apply, you will never find out what is required.  Moreover, the more often you apply for this type of programs, the better you will get to assess your own capability.
