I attended the event featuring Jamese Breiding,  author of the book “Swiss Made: The Untold story behind Switzerland’s Success” ” this evening.  This book came out last year and has been very well received.  It is translated into several languages, (not in Japanese yet) and I hear that the event at Harvard . the first Swiss day, was very well received.

As this year marks the 150th anniversary of  diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Japan, this even is very topical.  I hear that there will be a luncheon meeting tomorrow, January 17 at Grand Hyatt, organized the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Japan.

James introduced main messages of the book, pointing out many not well known facts about Switzerland.  He introduced some industry chapters such as tourism, watch etc.

After his presentation, we discussed how to position this book in Japan etc.  There are quite a few similarities between the two countries and the book offers interesting story, different from the typical  “innovative””exciting” country stories.  I think there is a good potential that we can learn many things from Switzerland, and the story of Switzerland needs to be told with clear message for Japan.
