IMG_8366 Partly due to the unseasonably warm weather in the first three days of the new year, I noticed there are so many people on bikes. It almost seems that bike is getting back into fashion.
At the same time, I noticed that the bikes take up space of pedestrians walk lane.(photo on the left) Once in a while, the police? do total clean up and they take all the bikes parked at non-parking zone away. You need to go to certain place and pay the fine to get it back!
As I was reading papers on “shared economy,” I wonder why shared bikes have not quite caught on in Japan. I have seen them in Roppongi area and near Shinagawa station. But there are still relatively few.
I hope that Tokyo will become the capital of shared bikes and shared xxx, as we have space problem and high population density among other things.
I myself own the bike, but I use it so infrequently that every time I use, I need air! (In fact, I went to the nearby police station to get help to put in air into my bike!)
IMG_7152I hope shared bikes (and shared many things) will come soon.(Photo on the left are now almost ubiquitous Citibike in Manhattan!)
