Blog post

This Friday, March 7, we will have session #13 of “Davos Experience in Tokyo” series.  This time, we will discuss what second jobs  we want to pursue.   We position “Second Job” as a step toward a better work-life balance.

We have discussed and debated long working hours in Japan which makes it difficult for men and women to have good family life, evaluation system focusing more on hours you spend at work rather than output and performance, unwritten rules valuing presence at work so far.  I am increasing convinced that we need totally different approach to the issue.

We can think of several benefits of having the second job–such as less dependence on one income source, push for efficiency at main job, easier way to start up, more awareness of taxes we pay, more exposure to different ideas etc. etc.  We may  have a guest who has actually done this approach with us on Friday.

If you are interested in getting together with people who are ready to think about the second job, come & join us on Friday. If you are interested, but cannot join us at the venue, sign up for the online discussion.  I will be facilitating the discussion again.  For details and registration, check our website
