On Friday, April 7, I went to the concert by San Francisco Symphony at Carnegie Hall. The conductor was Michael Tilson Thomas and cell soloist was Gautier Capucon. It began with The Seasons by John Cage, followed by Cello Concerto No. 1 in E flat Major by Shostakovich. After the intermission, they performed Concerto for Orchestra by Bartok.
I was interested in The Seasons as it could have been the first time I heard the piece by John Cage. I particularly like Gautier Capucon on cello. Audience was so excited about his performance and so was I.
After the last piece, SFO symphony played one more piece. I hear some members arrived in New York early in the morning (4, 5 am!) due to the storm. Very nice, great way to spend the first evening in New York.
