Open Forum held in Feb/March in the past several years is scheduled for Friday, March 18, this year.  It will be held at Hitotsubashi ICS near Jinbocho. (Map) As I am leaving ICS at the end of March, this will be the last of its kind held at ICS.

In the past, Open Forum with Aoyama Gakuin alumni and Cold Call Night with Darden alumni were held separately, but this year, these two events and Global Agenda Seminar reunion are put together for the event on March 18. ICS students, alumni and others interested in ICS and/or graduate school are also welcome.

Details are:   Date Friday, March 18, Time from 7:00 p.m. on  Place, ICS, Hitotsubashi, National Center of Sciences, 6th floor, Classroom 1 (map is above)

What we plan to do this year is the brainstorming with ideaslab-type format which I have participated at Davos and other places.  Four or five people (probably some from Global Agenda Seminar?) will make 5-minute presentation using visual slides (no text) to discuss project and business each has worked on.  (At least one of them will be done in English.)  After each presentation, the presenter gives one specific question for the participants to brainstorm and the group will list some keywords from the presentation.

After all the presentations, the participants will choose the group he/she likes to join and brainstorm the solution to the questions raised for some 30 minutes.  After the session, we will have report-back from each group and general discussion.

This year, we plan to ustream the session so that those who cannot come can watch.

After the session, we will have Get-together in the area nearby (probably from 9:00 p.m. or so).  Those who want to come to Open Forum, but have no contacts with any one of Aoyama Gakuin alumni, Darden, GAS or ICS,  please leave comment to this blog.  I will contact you for the details.  Those who belong to any one of the groups above, please contact the people in charge directly.

I met Professor Ahmajian at International Christian University’s Global Leadership Symposium this past weekend. She suggested this event might be a place to interact with other students and professionals on the topic of corporate social responsibility. If so, I’d love to attend. I am a first year grad student at ICU studying peace and conflict resolution – I also have a background in business, pr, and social entrepreneurship.

    Thank you,

Hi, Lydia, this is Yoko Ishikura. Thanks for your interest in the Open Forum. I received a note from Dean Ahmadjian. The session would be done mainly in Japanese, but at least one presentation would be in English and you can join that group for brainstorming. Will send more details. Thanks.
