FullSizeRender (6) First night in New York City was spent for the NY Phil concert at Lincoln Center. I was fortunate to be able to exchange my ticket to the one on Saturday show, last of the series with Esa-PekaSalonen as conductor and Jeremy Denk on piano.

FullSizeRender (5)I am NY Phil Friends and receive special offers for the tickets. I reserve tickets, though it is a bit difficult to know my schedule of trips to NYC in many months in advance. What is so nice is that I can exchange tickets if I cannot make it. I was able to get a great seat (Center in the fifth row), though I found the BIG man next to my seat. (He was about 2.5 times as heavy as I am, as his thigh was about 2.5 times big as mine!)

Program included two pieces by Beethoven (including Piano Concerto No. 1 in C Major) and the Firebird by Stravinsky. I listened to the Closing Scenes from the Firebird by Berlin Philharmonic at Carnegie Hall 2 weeks ago, but it was nice to hear the whole thing.

It was full house and the audience gave standing ovation to the two and the orchestra. Great way to start my stay in NYC…
