I have several daily routines I follow every day. They include daily workout (strength and cardio combination with stretch) and daily blog entry in Japanese and in English. Recently with the emergency declaration and stay home request by the government, I added one more item. That is to give 5 minute impromptu speech in English and tape it with my iPad.
I hear that not saying a word to people all day makes people lonely and depressed. Thus we are encouraged to speak up, rather than just reading articles, listening to news and webinar etc. I thought it would be a good practice to do it in English and decided to give it a try about a week ago. (So far, so good.) The topics can be anything. Sometimes I explain what I plan to do that day, or review my days. I also try to explain what I plan to say in my draft. As I listen to English podcast every morning while I do workout, I sometimes share my thought from the podcast I heard and am impressed.
I do it after my daily workout, and shower, usually drinking coffee. It is a good way to practice English so that I do not lose it and as it is short, I can watch myself right after I try. It is also a good way to have structure in the morning. I sometimes practice making speech or presentation using iPad to check time and story, but this is much more casual and easy to do. After all, you are doing it yourself for yourself. It is like a diary video version?
