Whenever I come to North America (I suppose not everyplace, but in areas which I visit often such as Vancouver, New York etc.), I find families and friends seem to behave very affectionately.  They hug each other, hold hands together and call each other by name.

I used to feel it quite different and somewhat strange, but now I find it very natural.  I also have quite warm feeling whenever people behave affectionately with each other. Probably it is because I see more couples hold hands in Japan, and/or I see more divides many places.

Particularly for small children, it seems physical touch seems very important.  So it makes me feel happy to see families enjoy each other and are so kind to each other during vacation in Whistler.  It also makes me so sad to hear the news that  many children are separated from the parents at the US border.
