IMG_9401 I had breakfast meeting this morning (March 30) at Roppongi Hills Club where I gave a brief talk on leadership etc.(Photo on the left)  On my way back to Nogizaka station, I visited MIYAKE ISSEY Exhibition at the National Art Center Tokyo.
IMG_9406I met Issey decades ago and have followed his activities off and on. I have been particularly interested in his knowledge of materials, creative attempt to make best use of advanced IMG_9407textile machinery technology in Japan with designing of clothes that anybody can wear.  I recall I visited Dai Fujiwara (who work with Issey Miyake)  whom I met through the seminar to find more about the color/textile etc.
When you see his work which covers many creative and innovative concept such as Pleats, A-Poc etc. you find it overwhelming how his horizon of creativity with solid philosophy has expanded over the years.
I tried audio guide downloaded on my iPhone (I wanted to give a try after I tried at MOMA in New York recently). I also tried the demonstration of starting with two dimensional clothes and ending with the clothes on mini-body. It was amazing..
His exhibition will go on until June 13. Highly recommended.
