Last night, the flight some 11 of us were supposed to take to go to Summit on the Global Agenda 2013 in Abu Dhabi was canceled due to the technical problems.  We were ready to take off around 9:00 pm,  when we heard that technical problem would force us to wait for the fix.  (Captain kept saying that we will inform the status in 20 minutes… repeatedly)   We were afraid that we would not make Narita curfew of 11:00 p.m. and we were right.

Around 10:45 pm, they announced that the flight was canceled and they accommodated us at the hotel nearby. This is NOT the first time that this type of problem happened to me, but the first time when I was with a group of friends.

gang 11We moved to the hotel and decided to have an informal party? with Bento box the airline would provide us after midnight.  (All the places to eat at the hotel were closed, but CVS was open for us to get snack and drinks!)

Midnight party began around midnight.  It turned out to be a fun get-together where we talked about many things such as internet security, use of CVS for disaster relief stations, etc. etc., some of which I found very interesting.  Some of us left at 2:00 a.m. to get some sleep.

Now all of us are at airport lounge, waiting for the flight in the afternoon.  (Photo showing all but one in front of the Christmas tree at the hotel right before we left for airport!) We will miss the first day of the Summit, but will be there for the two days left.    So bad luck could turn to exciting opportunity to get exposed to new things!
