Blog post

I had an opportunity to discuss education and talent mobility today with Mme. Suzanne Ethier, Director General(I trust this is the right title) of Quebec yesterday afternoon.  It was made possible as I met with the Premier of Quebec in Davos in January for the Talent Mobility brainstorming. After some scheduling and rescheduling, we met today to discuss what Quebec is doing to encourage talent mobility.

As I think more about the need for talent mobility, particularly for the Japanese young people, I feel that we can learn a lot from best practices and experiments done in the other part of the world.

The topic of our discussion ranged from Immigration policy, exchange of researchers and marketing on the both sides of the opportunities open to young people. I thought it was a great opportunity for me to get to know more about Quebec. (My experience in Canada has been limited to the Western and Central part, mainly British Columbia, and I have never been to the eastern part of Canada.) I hope the day will come soon when I can visit Montreal.
