Blog post

I just got back from British Columbia  yesterday after spending wonderful summer in great environment of Canada. The very next day, today, August 25, I was invited to the luncheon with Prime Minister Jean Charest of Quebec.  I met with Mr. Charest at several occasions in the past few years,  including the Annual Meetings of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.  Last October, I had an opportunity to visit Montreal and moderated the workshop, which was hosted by him and the government of Quebec.  He is one of the political leaders in the world I respect most, for his vision, dedication and commitment to make it happen.

During luncheon held in cooperation with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in japan, with many people involved in Canada, he introduced innovative policies related to Labor Mobility, which is very close to my heart, as I have worked on the issue as a member of the Global Agenda Council on Talent Mobility in the past few years.  He also introduced  very ambitious program called Plan Nord and discussed the possibility of collaborating with Japan.

It was such a great occasion, first of all, to welcome him in Tokyo and meet with various people from Canada.  I will write more about the project and how I feel Canada, in particular, Quebec, offers many possibilities for Japanese business and the Japanese people.   Stay tuned….
