IMG_9889On Sunday, April 19, I had the privilege to give a key note speech at the Fourth Home coming day at Fukuoka Women’s University. I met with the President Kajiyama last year and agreed to give a key note.
My title was “What would you do in the ever changing world?” After greetings by the guests and the president of the university, I gave 40 min. presentation, using slides.
Guest included officials from Fukuoka prefecture and from the alumni organization. I was particularly interested in the new initiatives at the university President Kajiyama outlined in his remarks.
After the ceremony with officials, alumni and students, we had nice lunch. I then rushed to the discussion IMG_9960in English with some 10 students at the new library building. Partly due to my tight schedule (it was partially caused by the flight change to go to Inchon and onto Jakarta for the conference on Monday), we could not have as much time as we wanted for discussion. (I mainly answered questions students had rather than conducted interactive discussion!)
As I introduced my website, I have received some comments not only from the students but also from the alumni. I appreciate all that people did for me to make this happen.
Every time I am given this type of opportunity to address young people (“young at heart”-i.e. alumni etc. included), I am encouraged by the hope we can count on for the better future. I felt in the same way in Jakarta while interacting with people in Indonesia and other ASEAN countries.
