Following the session #52 at Nissin Foods last Friday(see photo on the left), here is information about our next session of “Davos Experience in Tokyo” series. Sessoin #53  will be held on THURSDAY, November 9. Unlike our regular schedule of Friday, the session #53 is on Thursday.
The topic is “single life/living alone- its advantage and issues.” The ratio of one-person household of total population in Japan has been increasing to reach some 14% today.  Many assume that it must be elderly living alone, but many young people live alone. In fact, in 2030, 1 out of 4 men in the 50s is estimated to live alone. The increase of one-person household is due to several factors-ageing, more people not getting married, etc.
What lifestyle you choose is a decision of individuals, and each one of us can decide whether to live alone or live with your partners, children etc. depending upon our own values. The problem, however, is that social systems and institutional arrangement/procedures are designed on the assumption that the household consists of a couple and children.
Single life may mean less stress as we can do whatever we want to. On the other hand, it may have some risks when you have medical emergency etc.
We want to share our own experiences of living alone (if you have done so) and/or explore our expectations /fears of living alone to design rich and fulfilling lifestyle at our next session. Come join us on Thursday, Nov. 9. Details and registration is here.
