Blog post

Today May 10 was full of exciting events. We had board meeting in the morning, followed by me going through chiropractic treatment.
I then went to the House of Aston Martin (very nice set up) to help facilitate BCCJ vision workshop. BCCJ helped us for Global Agenda Seminar 2017 by being one of the clients for project, I was honored to be a part of their vision building workshop. (In fact, it reminded me of similar vision/strategy workshop I did for Science Council of Japan in 2006 or so when the organization was renewed and I was appointed to serve as Vice President in charge of internation liaison by then President, Dr. Kiyoshi Kurokawa.  As I had had some experience of strategy consulting, we(Dr. K and two other newly elected Vice Presidents)  decided to try workshop to develop vision and strategy, with the help of ex-consultant I recruited (we did everything pro bono, I believe). It was a great experience for me and we (Dr. K, 3 VPs incl. me and young consultant Kay) became great friends as we met almost every weekend.)
At BCCJ workshop,  each member talked and the breakout session stayed lively, thus  I did not have to do much. It was interesting to find out how experience of each member of Exe. committee has difference (as well as similarities). It was good learning experience for me.
I then went to attend the reception to celebrate professional shogi player Yoshiharu Habu for having achieved unprecedented record of winning 7 permanent? titles for 7 major titles AND being awarded people’s honor award by the Japanese government.
There were hundreds of people there and I arrived when Iyama, professional Go player who was awarded the national medal together with Habu was making a speech.
I was hoping to see Rie san, her mother and their two daughters. It has been quite a while since I saw them. (In fact, the last time I saw the girls was almost 2 decades ago!) They looked so well and I was so happy to see them all. (I wish I had taken a photo with them!)
Though it was rather hectic day as I had series of meetings at different places, just getting together with Habu family made my day.
