Blog post

Last night (Tuesday, March 11),  I was invited to the Chamber Music Concert hosted by the Ambassador of the Netherlands.  We had well known Cellist, Pieter Wispelwey and accompanying Pianist, Paolo Giacometti.  I love strings including cello very much and thoroughly enjoyed the concert in the relaxed and cozy atmosphere.

I go to  classical music concert, particularly in New York City (Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall), but listening to cello and piano in the room with some 40 people or so gave me quite different impression. The cello is so powerful that I was so struck by its force.  They played Clarinet Sonata No. 2 in E flat major Op 120-2 by Brahms and Cello Sonata by Poulene.   I did not know either one, but they were different and wonderful.

The played one another piece at the beginning as it was 3/11 and another at the end.   Buffet dinner followed where I met with some old friends and met with new.  People seemed to remember me as moderator of the panel as I did one at EU on International Women’s Day last year and at another panel in the fall.  In fact, I am moderating another panel tomorrow at the Swiss Residence.

Pieter Wispelwey and Paolo Giacometti will be performing (All Beethoven Program)  tonight  March 12 at Kioi Hall. (A bit late notice), and probably more at other places.
