Dubai- Summit on the Global Agenda
I am in Dubai, UAE, to participate in the Inaugural Summit on the Global Agenda. It is organized by the World Economic Forum and several hundreds of us have gathered in Dubai to discuss global agenda, ranging from Corporate Governance to Pandemics. I arrived very early Friday morning.
The meeting began Friday afternoon with the Introductory Session by Professor Klaus Schwab, Founder of the World Economic Forum. I am a member of the Council on Skills Gap and on the Future of Japan. Skills Gap council members discussed for several hours, regarding the state of the issue (Skills Gap) today in the world and the impact of the current economic downturn on the issue. We had had virtual conference earlier, to review our past activities related to Skills Gap and plan this meeting, so the discussion was quite efficient and effective. After the council meeting, we gathered together as Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE, Ruler of Dubai, gave the opening address.
The day ended with the Welcome Reception on the beach where I reunited with several friends (most from the Design council) with whom I had met earlier and worked together in the past meetings. It is always so much fun to get together with friends and discuss what they have been up to.
I am very fortunate to be given this opportunity to meet with old friends, and make new friends. I suppose this is what is called “networking.” I want to make sure that I meet with new people and get exposed to the new issues. Stay tuned, as more to come.
