In the first four days of my trip to New York, I went to four shows-starting with Orpheus at Carnegie, Dear Evan Hansen Sunday matinee, Cats and Tchikovsky Festival at Lincoln Center. It is quite easy to do this while in New York, as everything is located quite close together. (I walked to all the places, counting my steps for exercise, too!)
Cats was last minute impulse decision as I found out the show was on Monday. I had seen Cats many times before (in Japan-and have even written the column in the program), and wanted to see the new production. It was a bit different feeling and the story was more streamlined, it seemed. It reminded me how unconventional when it was first performed in London! Tchaikovsky Festival was good, with Kirill Gerstein on Piano and Semyon Buchkov conducting. It is always interesting to see the profile of audience at the Lincoln Centere.
After 4 day marathon, I took a day off from series of shows, to participate in conference call with Tokyo in the evening. With snow on the way, I do not know how far I extend this culture in NYC!
